Blockbusted
Blockbuster knew you were not likely to find what you were looking for, especially on a Sunday, but as long as you walked out of the store with a movie, they called it a win.
They used to call this managed dissatisfaction.
The issue with managing dissatisfaction, namely pleasing customers just enough to make a profit, is that it saves you from having to make risky investments. It is comforting, and most importantly, lucrative, at least until it drives you bankrupt.
Cheer up, though. I heard Oregon is becoming quite the hotspot for retirees!
