Change will happen
When you’re asked for a change you can lecture us as to why we’re wrong in thinking what we think and feeling how we feel, but that’s no way to negotiate.
You can choose to bring about the change, propose a different change that you’d be more comfortable with and that would solve the same problem, bribe us maybe, fight us, or try to put an end to the relationship. All solutions involve some kind of change anyway.
Nobody can force you to the negotiating table but once a flaw in the status quo is discovered, change will happen, and you don’t want to pass on the opportunity to discuss its terms.
