Will you ever become the best at anything?
The odds are not in your favor.
First of all, there can only be one best. Also, science is making it increasingly clear: tell me where you were born, how much your parents make, and with some basic math I’ll tell you how likely you are to make it to the top.
I’m probably overestimating my math skills here but the point stands. A better strategy for success, for most of us, is to look for opportunities we may be the best fit for. Nobody cares if you’re the best when you’re not the best fit.
