The more I think about leadership, the more I realize that it is completely unfit as a concept for the way we work together today. We need a new concept. Maybe we’d be better off with a different word altogether.
A good candidate may be “Stewardship.” Imagine how awkward it would be to shop for your next business book in the “stewardship” category. “Steward” does sound a lot less cool than “leader,” but also a lot more like the role we most need you to fill.
