Own the in-betweens
Do you know what’s less productive than a meeting?
Time between meetings.
And it’s not just the meetings. Thousands of distractions are waiting to happen as we shift our focus between every item on our to-do lists. It’s the reason why multi-tasking doesn’t work in the real world; the more you shift focus between tasks, the more opportunities for distractions to creep in.
Part of the solution is to deliberately choose to do less; the other equally important part is to own the in-betweens. Time-block your breaks, meditate, do 10 squats, repeat a stupid mantra, try interstitial journaling, do what you have to do.
Because life is but the time in-between the alarm ringing and the moment you go back to sleep.
