The craft, the reward
The simple desire to produce good work is a more reliable catalyst for good work than the ambition to get rich, recognized, or praised.
It’s not impossible to produce good work while driven by ambition or greed, but it’s less likely and definitely more laborious. It’s hard enough wrestling with a craft; it pays to choose the one you can tackle while not being distracted by your motivations.
