The times they are (always) a-changing
We’re used to understanding culture as a monolith. We can choose to preserve it if we like it as it is or chip away at it to make it into a nicer shape.
In reality, culture is fluid and constantly shifting, much like a dune. What we believe to be our identity today simply describes the place where the dune is currently standing, but the wind keeps blowing and the sand keeps moving.
Insist in standing still, and soon enough you’ll be left behind.
