Activism for the lazy
The Overton window is a theory describing the range of ideas that could be acceptable by the mainstream, which is constantly shifting under the pulling forces of our evolving culture.
Maybe a better way to look at activism, for most of us who were not born to be social justice warriors, is to stop considering it a crusade to convert people to a particular ideology, but rather as the inevitable pull we exert on the Overton window with our behaviors and actions. Because the awareness that we’re always pulling, even when we’re standing still, makes it clearly important to be intentional about it.
