Silly metrics
The important things are either hard to measure or hard to influence, so we tend to track what’s readily available or what makes us look good.
The problem with this is that once we compromise on our metrics, it’s hard to resist more compromises for the sake of improving them.
So we end up tracking performance against metrics that aren’t meaningful and cheating the system to make the stats look better.
You tell me, how silly is that?
