One of Marc Andreessen’s old bosses used to say there’s only two ways to make money in business: one is to bundle; the other is unbundle. That rings particularly true if we’re talking about digital products. Between the two, unbundling seems to be the most common way of creating successful digital products—unbundling Microsoft Excel in particular—and I have a feeling there’s still more unbundling to do.
